Zhaoqing Dahuanong's 'Innovation and Application of Key Technology for Avian Influenza Early Warning and Prevention and Control' wins the first prize of the 2019 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award

On March 25th, the Guangdong Provincial Conference on Science and Technology Innovation was held in Guangzhou, where the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Awards for 2019 were presented. After the review, a total of 173 projects and 6 scientific and technological experts were selected for the 2019 National Science and Technology Awards. The 'Innovation and Application of Key Technologies for Avian Influenza Early Warning and Prevention and Control', a project led by Zhaoqing Dahuanong Biological Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., was awarded the first prize of the 2019 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.

The award-winning achievement is the result of years of clinical research and technical breakthroughs in the field of avian influenza prevention and control, led by Dr. Chen Rui'ai, the Vice President of Wens Foodstuffs Group and President of the Dahuanong Business Division, along with the research team. The achievement, through the construction of a big data epidemic analysis platform, successfully predicted multiple avian influenza outbreaks, broke through key technologies in avian influenza prevention and control, and played an important scientific role in avian influenza prevention and control. By constructing a big data vaccine strain screening platform, a broad-spectrum and highly efficient vaccine strain was accurately selected, a fully suspended cell line adapted to the growth of vaccine strains was domesticated, a serum-free fully suspended culture process technology for multivalent vaccines was invented, new vaccine production technologies were innovated, and industrialization was realized; the products created have been widely applied in China and "Belt and Road" countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Egypt, achieving significant economic, social, and ecological benefits.

So far, the subordinate units of the Dahuanong Business Division have accumulated 11 provincial-level and above science and technology awards. Among them, the "Creation and Application of New Antibacterial Raw Materials and Preparations for Animal Use" in which Guangdong Wens Foodstuffs Dahuanong Biotechnology Co., Ltd. participated as the main completing unit also won the second prize of the 2019 National Science and Technology Progress Award. This fully demonstrates the continuous enhancement of the company's independent innovation capability, the sustained improvement of its scientific and technological comprehensive strength, and will provide strong technical support for enhancing the core competitiveness of the enterprise and achieving innovation-driven development.
