Dahuanong's Avian Leukosis ELISA Detection Product Awarded "Guangdong Famous High-tech Product" Honor

Recently, the "Avian Leukosis Virus ELISA Group-specific Antigen Detection Kit" produced by Dahuanong has been awarded the title of "Guangdong Famous High-tech Product" by the Guangdong High-tech Enterprise Association.

The seed industry is a strategic and fundamental core industry of the country. Since 2008, a major outbreak of avian leukosis has led to the culling of approximately 60 million commercial laying hens and yellow chickens each year, affecting most domestic breeding enterprises, causing the closure of large-scale great-grandparent chicken farms, and inflicting a heavy blow to the poultry industry, posing a serious threat to the safety of our country's poultry germplasm. As a result, avian leukosis has been included in the "National Medium and Long-term Plan for Animal Disease Prevention and Control (2012-2020)", the "Ministry of Agriculture's Opinions on Promoting the Development of Modern Livestock and Poultry Seed Industry (2016)", and the "Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' Opinions on Promoting the Purification Work of Animal Diseases" (Agricultural and Rural Development [2021] No. 29) as a priority disease for prevention and purification, which is an important part of the national seed industry revitalization plan implemented in recent years.

As early as 2019, Dahuanong joined hands with the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute to carry out scientific research on the ELISA group-specific antigen detection kit for avian leukosis virus. The kit was granted production approval in January 2022 and is currently the earliest and only enterprise in the South China region to have obtained production approval for avian leukosis detection kits.

This product has broken through the technical barriers of foreign products, effectively promoting the domestication process of avian leukosis ELISA detection products, and solving the pain point of being strangled by imported products. The kit is produced using imported raw materials and internationally advanced technology, breaking through key process technologies such as purification and coating. After testing and optimization with more than 30,000 samples, the product has high sensitivity, small well-to-well difference (coefficient of variation within 5%), and stable batch quality. Since its clinical application and comparison, the kit has been tested with different samples, and the inspection comparison results show that the kit has excellent performance indicators such as specificity, sensitivity, and stability, with a high detection rate for the latest domestic epidemic strain ALV-K, reaching an internationally leading level.

At present, the kit has been widely used in the purification work of avian leukosis in many large and medium-sized breeding enterprises in Guangdong and Guangxi, providing a sharp weapon for the protection of national poultry germplasm resources and ensuring the income increase for farmers. The product was appraised by experts in Guangdong Province and awarded the title of "Guangdong Famous High-tech Product" in 2022. This is a typical representative of the remarkable achievements made by Dahuanong in scientific and technological innovation in recent years, and it is also a vivid embodiment of Dahuanong pursuit of excellent quality.
