On November 14th, Academician Xia Xian Zhu, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a researcher at the Military Veterinary Research Institute of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences of the People's Liberation Army, and a specially-appointed technical consultant for Dahuanong, was invited to Zhaoqing for academic exchange activities and to guide the work at our company. The group's Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of Dahuanong, Chen Rui'ai, along with Vice President Kang Mengjiao, accompanied him.
During the academic exchange activities, Academician Xia Xian Zhu delivered a presentation titled "Human and Animal Infections of COVID-19 and Prevention and Control." He analyzed the characteristics of zoonotic diseases, the current prevalence and situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, from aspects such as "the serious harm of zoonotic diseases," "infection and prevalence of the novel coronavirus," and "comprehensive prevention and effective response to the epidemic." He also discussed how to improve scientific prevention and control measures, further refine relevant laws and regulations, control the epidemic according to the law, and strengthen research in these areas.
Following the academic exchange, Academician Xia and his delegation visited Dahuanong Company to gain a detailed understanding of our company's latest production and operation, park planning, as well as the development and application of new technologies and new industries. Academician Xia highly praised the achievements that the company has made over the past twenty years by adhering to innovation and striving for development.
Academician Xia Xian Zhu is a renowned animal virologist in China, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and part of the expert group of the Military Science Academy. He serves as the director of the academic committee for the Key Laboratory of Biotechnology and Innovation for Animal Disease Prevention and Control, which is established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and is based at Dahuanong. He is also a specially-appointed technical consultant for Dahuanong. His main research focuses on the prevention and control of significant diseases in military animals, wild animals, and zoonoses.
Throughout his career, Academician Xia has received numerous awards for his contributions, including three second prizes and one third prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards, as well as eight second prizes and nine third prizes in military (provincial and ministerial level) science and technology progress awards. He has published three monographs and over 400 academic papers.
